Bloody hell, but I am knackered, possibly certainly owing to pulling an all-nighter chewing on CSS and S2 coding for the new layout. ("Oh, c'mon, why's the code not working this time - what? A comma was expected? Well, grateful as I am for the smug cryptic statement there...d'you not suppose it might be more helpful to tell me exactly where* you would like me to stick the bloody thing - because frankly, one or two alternative locations are springing to mind at present! I'd be more than happy to furnish you with a comma. You can have as many as you like! Commas are not rationed these days! Just give me the faintest idea where --")

*To be honest, it probably does, and I'm just too daft to work it out. I am so useless with technology.

Sabre just sat folded up on the couch throughout several hours of this, rolling his eyes occasionally in my direction. If that cat had a computer, he'd be a smug, sickeningly-Linux-proficient, Mac-using kitty.

...so, anyhow, yes: lovely new layout and all that, w00t, anything properly-tricky of course assembled with the aid of resources hunted down in [livejournal.com profile] s2flexisquares (thankyou, thankyou, all you busy little coders over there) - still a few bits to tweak, but see, my wee clicky-boxes are back! - and I suppose I should be writing something interesting in it to celebrate, but considering I a] am freezing, b] am tired, and c] lead a rather unexciting life, to the point where earlier today I decided that these weird new cigarette filters with the crumbly carbon bit in the middle were actually worth an LJ post later tonight [a POV which I'm beginning to reconsider]...

...oh, just have the Canal + "March of the Emperor" ad instead. Yes, I know you've all probably seen it tons of times, but this vid will never, ever stop being funny as far as I'm concerned. I'll spam you all with pics of The Nephew, These Really Cool Books And ILN Pages I Acquired Last Year, and What I Did Over Christmas later. :P

Apropos of completely nothing, this little gem courtesy of [The Customer Is] Not Always Right.com:

Elementary, My Dear Mr Darcy
Movie Theater | Utah, USA

Customer: "I want a refund! Sherlock Holmes was possibly the worst film adaptation of a Jane Austen book I’ve ever seen!"

Me: "Sherlock Holmes was not written by Jane Austen. It was written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle."

Customer: "I thought there was something odd about it. Well, I guess it really is nothing at all like her other books. Silly me!"

*laughs until she starts an asthma attack*

Oh. My. Gawd. That vid is just.... just...

Oh....

err..uh... yes, the LJ is pretty. Wish I knew how to make my tags do the "biggest ones are the most used" thing.

Come 2015, practically every single self-respecting Napoleonic re-enactor in the world will be descending upon Belgium for the 200th anniversary battle of Waterloo. There are several people in my unit who have expressed the opinion that it would be a prime opportunity to recreate this ad.

I'm all for it. That vid is genius on toast. XD

And cheers: I'm quite pleased with it. :) Nice to have the Waterloo backdrop again (yeah, so it's slightly incongruous alongside Chard and Trench, but it's a bloody nice map).

Re: tags, I just changed the view from "list" to "cloud" in the basic customisation options, but you seem to be using 'Smooth Sailing', which doesn't offer this. :/ You can do it by creating a new theme layer and customising the S2, though. :) (I tried to do a quick run-through on my backup LJ account to test it out, but that's only a Plus, and S2-customisation is a "paid users only" feature. :P)

Oooh... pretty.

*huggles FlexiSquares* I think it's my favouritest layout... I've got three journals using it (my main one and my two fic journals, [livejournal.com profile] sharpies_pen and [livejournal.com profile] rifleman95.)

Oooh shiny new layout :)))

Loved the clueless cinema-goer! Gotta love 'The Customer is Not Always Right' :)))

Good, now that it's all pretty, you can post more on it. :P :P

*giggles* That vid was awesome. :) Of course I continued the joke by then telling Eor the whole story of the vid.

(I'm now imagining Sherlock Holmes as written by Jane Austen... oh, wait, we do have The Jane Austen Mysteries for that.)

I've got to admit, I did used to spend hours and half the night trying to get things to look nice on my websites and such, but now I really can't seem to make myself care. I slap something up there and when it dies I leave the broken pieces. :P

And I meant to say, but somehow it dropped out of my eventual post (possibly because I don't type as quickly as I go on to new thoughts) that your new layout looks gorgeous!

That is the funniest thing I've seen in about three months. "Sometimes they slide on their bellies to go faster..." *cries with laughter*
